Programme Overview
Shindō Yōshin-ryū (新道楊心流), meaning "New Willow School" is a traditional school (koryū) of Japanese martial arts arising from the Samurai.
Shindō Yōshin-ryū emphasizes grace and natural movement, the influence of which arises from the use of weapons. Students will learn principles of movement, body structure and develop an enhanced mind-body connection.
The beginner's programme is suitable for adult students with no previous martial arts background. Training takes place within a friendly, safe environment and teaches harmonious physical interaction through partner-based or individual training drills.
The TSYR dojo is run by Chris McMahon who was issued with a shoden mokuroku (first level) teaching licence in TSYR in May 2014 and a chuden mokuroku (second level) teaching license in March 2021. The dojo has two more teachers who were issued with shoden mokuroku teaching licences in 2021.
