We are the largest gymnastics facility in the Waikato, catering for all levels from recreational gymnastics through to competitive pathways across multiple disciplines. As a proven leader, you will oversee daily operations across the Club, and report to the governance committee. Your dynamic leadership will encompass human resource management, financial oversight and risk management, ensuring efficient resource allocation and high quality programme delivery in collaboration with our exceptional team.

Candidates with experience in sport, event management and successfully securing grants and funding will stand out.

Hamilton City Gymnastics is committed to the safeguarding of children and young people attending our programmes, and as such we require all staff to have a clear criminal history and be able to return a satisfactory Police vetting check, including clearance of any specified offence as set out in Schedule 2 of the Children’s Act 2014 and completion of the child safeguarding in sport modules through Sport New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Manage the operations of Hamilton City Gymnastics in accordance with the operational plan and in line with the strategic direction
  • Management of staff, including human resource management
  • Ensure Hamilton City Gymnastics operates within our club values
  • Financial Management, formulating and operating within a budget designated by the committee, including ensuring that the Club remains financially sustainable
  • Grant/funding/sponsorship applications
  • Event Management
  • Maintain a strong relationship with the governance committee
  • Allocation of resources to ensure quality programming
  • Build and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage health and safety, and take appropriate action to deal with workplace hazards, accident, incidents and near misses
Person specifications 
  • Must have a clear criminal history and be able to return satisfactory Police vetting, including not having committed a specified offence as set out in Schedule 2 of the Children’s Act 2014
  • Completion of the child safeguarding in sport modules through Sport New Zealand
  • Human resource management experience 
  • Grant funding experience
  • Leadership skills
  • High level communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Competence in the use of Xero and Microsoft Office, including membership databases
  • Conflict resolution and conflict management experience
  • Health and Safety 
  • Experience with managing budgets, resource allocation and financial reporting
  • Event Management experience would be preferred but not essential
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit/incorporated society/with a committee would be preferred but not essential
  • Experience in sport administration would be preferred but not essential
