Race the Train is a great event for families. Your day starts with a free train ride from Waihi Station to to your start line at Waikino. Once the train drops you on the Waikino Station platform, it's a short walk over the road and you're ready for race briefing.

This course is super-cool fun right from the start as you race through a tunnel and over the Ohinemuri River foot-bridge before you turn hard left and upstream, chasing the train along the beautiful river-side trail all the way to the finish line at Waihi Station.

When you hear the Goldfields Railway train's whistle, that's your signal to 'Race the Train' back to Waihi. The course meanders along-side the Ohinemuri River back to the finish line and if you're fast enough you'll see the train along the way. The train takes about 40 minutes station to station.

We are limited to 200 participants for this event so make sure you get in quick and enter as soon as possible so you don't miss out, it will fill up fast.
