Innovation in Sport & Recreation Award

Eligibility

Judging period: 16 October 2016 - 15 October 2017

Nominees must be at least Secondary School Year 9 students or equivalent as at 1 January 2017

  • Nominees will be judged in the district their club/school is based in during the judging period, or when Waikato region wide, nationally or internationally, they will be judged in the district they live in (exemptions may be sought if the sport is not offered in the district)
  • Nominees will not have represented provinces or clubs outside the greater Waikato region during the judging period, where there have been opportunities to represent the province or clubs at the same level within the greater Waikato
  • Volunteers, paid staff, amateurs and professionals are eligible
  • Nominations for people with disabilities are encouraged
  • A nominee may not be nominated for an award in more than one district
  • The nominee must have clearly demonstrated loyalty to the local governing association and/or the Waikato region. Judges decisions are final and correspondence will not be entered into
  • Judges will select the winner of the Sporting Personality of the Year from all individual categories
  • Sport Waikato reserves the right to forward nominations to any Sports Awards
  • Sport Waikato reserves the right to combine some categories where nomination numbers are low
  • Sport Waikato reserves the right to make special presentations to worthy recipients at any Sports Awards
  • Judges reserve the right to discard nominations if they cannot clearly identify the level of competition within the sport
